Job Description:
The Educational Service Center of Franklin County has an opening for a School Improvement Coach. This person will provide onsite coaching services to teachers and school leaders in K-8 schools and classrooms of the Columbus Public Schools. School Improvement Coaches will be called upon to provide services that may include but are not necessarily limited to implementation of the math/science and reading/social studies specialist program, differentiated instruction, classroom management, student engagement of higher order thinking skills, effective instructional strategies in content areas, formative assessment, data analysis and curriculum alighment.
Bachelor's degree required;master's degree preferred (in teaching, school administration, curriculum and instruction or related educational field)
5 or more years successful teaching experience required; 10 or more years in teaching, shoool leadership or professional development preferred.
Demonstrated skills in collaborative consultation with teachers, administrators and other service providers.
Knowledge of research-bsaed instruction and intervention
Knowledge of NCLB and Ohio Academic Content Standards, instruction and assessment
In-depth knowledge of reading and/or math concepts and instruction
Experience of professional preparation to model, observe and provide reflective feedback about instructional strategies and practices for classroom teachers.
General knowledge of coaching/mentoring techniques and procedures.
Experience with data analysis, interpretation and data systems.
Experience with developing formative assessments.
Understanding of differentiation of instruction.
Previous experience with conducting in-service or workshops for teachers and/or administrators.
Experience with working with students with diverse cultures.
Full or part-time
$20-$35/hour; This position offers no benefits.
